1988 AM Service Launches
2PM Saturday 2nd April 1988
The big day had finally arrived: Radio Heatherwood had completed all the work in the studio and all the training had been done.
During the training period a special program detailing the early days of Heatherwood was recorded for on-air day by the manager and secretary.
Radio Heatherwood appointed a catering manageress for the day Viv Lewis': Viv with assistance from her daughter prepared the buffet and decorated the ante-Natal clinic.
The Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead had accepted our invitation to open the new station. The press had arrived it was 13:30,but where was the Mayor. The Mayor had been delayed earlier in the day and was running late with his engagements. The Mayor finally arrived with his wife, and two minutes to spare before switch on at 14:00.
The Mayors opening speech was followed by the first record on the new medium wave transmission service.
