1987 And in the End

As the year drew to a close it was time to reflect on the years events successes and disappointments.

The facts

Where the money came from:- £340.42 former patients/public.

£7200.00 Local councils.

£515.00 Local companies.

£4449.46 Local trusts/misc.

Total help pledged and received during radio appeal 1987 £ 12'504.88.

Record of the year:-

So strong Labi Siffre.

Alun Jones

Alun Jones the local reporter for the Ascot express had always been very supportive to our ventures at the Radio. It was Alan's reports in the local papers that kept up interest in the appeal and were it not for Alun we would have been a lot poorer. Sadly Alun is no longer with us but his support for us will never be forgotten.

Appeal Year

The appeal year proved one of the most stressful years ever; for the secretary and manager.

We made lots of new friends this year: with hindsight we would probably have tackled some things differently, but at the end of the day: we got there.

Inductive Loop Medium Wave Service

When it was quite clear that the station would not be as it was, some presenters who failed to follow in the steps of others at the station felt it was time to go.

On the 9th Jan 1988 we closed the station. On that day all the old habits and practices of the station would be killed off. All that was bad with the old station would go.

A NEW FUTURE AWAITS !

Letterhead Change

As the year drew to a close it was time to change the logo on the stationery letterhead and incorporate our new image.

Taking a combination of the radio logo previously designed by Honeywell and the addition of the medium wave frequency which was allocated to Radio Heatherwood.

That was the year that was "1987"
