1982
Radio Heatherwood presenters won the Thames valley police road safety Quiz.
An interview with Cliff Richard was broadcast, also an autographed album was raffled off raising £92.
A special valentines show on the 13th February by PJ & Phil Chappell' produced a valentines card for PJ. The culprit was Dot from ward 4
A short break in service by Dave Smith meant the librarian functions were passed to Penny Goldsmith & Roger Winterburn.
Martins the newsagents donated a large Easter egg for fund raising.
One of the characters of the wards this year, was Dot Claridge on ward 4. Dot had been a patient on ward 4 from August 81 over six months. A great lady who encouraged the patients to join in with the request programs. In February upon her departure she visited the studio and was interviewed by PJ.
In March this year after six years the radio sub committee was disbanded. The running of the radio was handed back to the main league of friends and representatives John Walters and Andy Morton of the radio would bring to the league meeting, issues regarding the day to day running of the radio.
North Thames Gas; donated a gas fire to raise funds for the radio service.
The studio complex was increased in size with the addition of another room. The idea of a second studio was decided upon even though the bank account could not stand it.
A £1000 donation was received from Capt Beaumont of the Racecourse for the purchase of a new broadcast mixer. The new mixer cost £1431.53p, this was paid for in two payments. In May the new mixer was installed in the original studio position. The partridge mixer provided the facilities for patients to be able to phone in on-air. The first character on the wards to take advantage of this was Caroline of ward 4.
The stall at the Ascot carnival had been particularly successful with a profit of over £40.
The Saturday Win A disc, phone in competition was a great success, free records were given away by David's record shop in Bracknell this kept us in prizes. A large quantity of these were never hits. One record We did give away did get to number one in the national charts, so We had to buy a new copy: Renee & Renato's save your love," OOPS ".
It was diamond jubilee year at the hospital. The fete was opened by Tom 0,Connor,and Iris Williams. A lack of preparation this year by the radio staff and League of Friends, meant embarrassing moments when the openers of the fete couldn't be heard due to the pa system, not working.
An assortment of Disco equipment had been sold to the station. The then chairman of the radio set up the deal neglecting to check to see if it was suitable, it wasn't it was unsafe to use.
In November the station paid Frank Blasi £24.84 for paint for the radio. A fresh coat of white paint was given to the premises.

The Radio Heatherwood top five was used to promote the national top 5 from the top 40 .
The Saturday finale was the second version which would be played as the last item on a Saturday night.
David's record shop replaced our price records shop from the year before. David's a local independant in Bracknell were giving us records at a discounted price and also some freebies.
The Saturday opening would be played as a showreel to the evening. This version from 1982 now included presenter input recorded from previous nights.
Some more presenter promotions were revised this year using voice recordings from their shows.

Car Stickers

Radio Magazines Issue 4
The radio magazines were given freely to patients to promote the work of the radio station and the leagues trolley shop.
Issue 4 contained twenty four pages with information about the hospital and how the radio service was set-up. It also had a request for feedback from Grace Browning Wednesdays, stories from PJ Saturdays, also Roger, Librarian On Tuesdays plus a letter of thanks from St Georges school plus a note of thanks from a grateful patient. The booklet also carried pictures and an article about the Thames valley road safety quiz.
Chairman Ron Mason welcomed readers to this new edition.
